life in bfe

We have a really noisy washing machine that rocks the entire house (which is easy because we live in a trailer). I need clean clothes, because I take Zac to get tested for autism in the morning. It's going to be quite a day for the little guy. Then, he goes to stay with his dad for two weeks. Yep, Zac is ditching his mommy for two weeks. I guess I'll try to have some fun, although the first 48 hours might just be used for sleep.

I live in BFE, and it's so hard to make friends. Small towns are very clique-ish. I keep taking breaks from typing to play with the really expensive color pencils Sid gave to me. Fancy pencils!

I don't really do anything but clean and take care of Zac, so maybe I'll get a hobby. I'd like to get a job, but I have to wait for my car to get fixed. I'm waiting on my disability court date and for vocational rehab to call. So, here I am in the waiting room of life.

Time Management

Zac likes music a lot, and his favorite is old country music. I have a couple of mixed CD's he likes to listen to in his room. Also, I've been calling him Bubba for a while, but I didn't know if he liked it or not until today. I called him Zac, and he said "Bubba." So it's officially his nickname. He goes to stay with his dad for two weeks on Tuesday, and we'll just have to tell him Zac likes Johnny Cash, and he can call him Bubba. I'm going to miss him terribly while he's gone. It will be the longest we've ever been apart. On the bright side, my step son, Aaron is coming to visit. He is a great kid, and I can't wait to see him.

I'm a fall/winter person, and this 100+ weather is bugging me. I guess I'll just stay indoors until September. I'm the type that gets heat sick easily, and see little black dots and vomiting just isn't the way I like to spend my afternoon. Whoa. Maybe I shared too much.

So, the Pitchfork Music Festival was supposed to be a big deal, I guess, but it just wasn't my kind of music. There was a lot of electronic stuff with cymbals and dancing with flags. A lot of the music didn't really have a rhythm.

Oh, and one other thing. Sometimes, when you're reading my blog, try not to get too offended. I never intend to offend or insult people. I'm just poorly filtered. If you don't like your own ideals being challenged, I would suggest reading something else, because I will talk about anything.

Hot Weather and Tea Parties

Mom said the heat index today is supposed to be 110, so there won't be any outdoor activities for us.

The Republicans and the Tea Party totally suck. They want to take away social security and medicare. Sorry blind and disabled folks, you can just starve and be homeless. But, please, what ever change you beg for throughout the day, please donate it to bail out corporate America.

Being a Grownup

Being a teacher's wife is a lot like being a pastor's wife, so I'm told. Your life is always being scrutinized, so it's important to be mindful of what you say and do. It's very political. This is an entirely new concept to me, because I've always been one of those people lacking a filter on what they say and do. I guess I should see this as a way to encourage me to mature and start acting like a grownup. I'm 25 years old, so I guess it's about time.

I really like Nickjr, because it keeps Zac happy while I'm cleaning the house, and it's educational. He also has music time. I have a CD with  a bunch of classic country songs that he listens to every day while he plays in his room. I try to take him out for a walk in the evenings. He's not in head start yet, so I try to make sure he has plenty of stimulating activities. I take him to the library once a week as well. He really enjoys story time.

Today, I have to clean out the fish aquarium for Mr. Fish and Mr. Speckles. We've had Mr. Fish(the beta fish) since last August. We've had Mr. Speckles(the sucker fish) since January. We have one of those really cute aquariums with the changeable colored lighting.
